Pediatric Foot - It's Cute, But (can be) Complicated

Babies and kids present with a wide range of foot abnormalities – some requiring prompt treatment, others no treatment at all. Pediatric orthopedic surgeon Coleen Sabatini, MD, MPH, presents the foot facts providers need in order to identify true problems, plus guidance on talking to worried parents and quick in-office tests for specific conditions. Bonus: her quick-reference list of conditions in babies and older kids that warrant referral.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the various foot conditions that are seen in newborns and pediatric patients.
  • Evaluate the foot using evidence-based techniques to diagnose pathology.
  • Review when to refer for specialty care versus reassure parents regarding particular conditions.
