In this timely presentation, UCSF pediatric and family medicine physicians describe how PCPs can help remove barriers to reproductive care and meet the individual needs of patients with unwanted pregnancies. Their talk includes pointers on nonjudgmental counseling, a review of relevant safety issues, how to assess patients seeking medication abortion (including simple paths to estimating gestational age), the advantages and disadvantages of medication versus an in-clinic procedure, and straightforward follow-up practices.
