Peter Chin-Hong, MD
Infectious disease physician
Dr. Peter Chin-Hong specializes in treating infectious diseases. He has a focus on infections that develop in immunosuppressed patients, such as recipients of organ and stem cell transplants, particularly HIV-positive recipients of organ transplants.
In research, Chin-Hong studies human papillomavirus, Chagas disease, and viral and fungal infections in patients with suppressed immune systems. His findings have been published in numerous journals and books.
Chin-Hong earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at UCSF.
In addition to patient care, Chin-Hong is associate director of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute's predoctoral research fellowship programs. He has received numerous prestigious teaching awards from UCSF.
Chin-Hong is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Society for Microbiology and American Society of Transplantation.
