Sara Buckelew, MD, MPH

Dr. Sara M. Buckelew is a specialist in adolescent medicine and a director of the UCSF Eating Disorders Program. Her focus is on caring for teenagers with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia. In research, she also focuses on eating disorders, as well as other topics in adolescent mental health.

Buckelew earned her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and earned a master of public health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. At UCSF, she completed a residency in preventive medicine and public health, followed by a fellowship in adolescent medicine. She is a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine, Association for Prevention Teaching and Research, and Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine.
